Our Team

Our team delivers a wealth of technical expertise and industry knowledge to meet your veterinary image storage, retrieval, and transfer needs.

CEO and Co-Founder — Jason Otis, BSEE

Jason is an Army veteran who specialized in satellite and multi-channel communication systems. With a BSEE from Purdue University and over twenty years experience leading software development efforts, he is the architect of Asteris products and services. Jason lives in Monument, Colorado with his family and can often be found mountain biking, hiking, and camping in the Rocky Mountains. He is also the drummer for his church and an "Old Guy Bar Band", VFW member, and Boy Scout Leader.

COO and Director of Development — Angela Otis, BSME, MBA, Technology Management

Angela has both a BSME and an MBA in technology management and has spent sixteen years in the field with financial/insurance industries. She spends her at Asteris days guiding – and continually optimizing – the overall operations of Asteris, with a little help from her two Golden Retriever office-mates. She enjoys spending time with Asteris CEO Jason Otis (which is easy to do since they both spend a lot of time at Asteris!) and her two sons. She also loves cooking and yoga, although not at the same time.

Chief Sales Officer — Erik Berger, B.S., Business Management

With a background in sales and customer service, Erik came to Asteris from an industry leader in diagnostic imaging equipment where he developed a passion for assisting veterinarians with their imaging-related needs. As someone who is NOT a "techie," Erik enjoys being able to provide a simple but yet sophisticated software solution that makes life better for pets and veterinarians alike. A San Diego resident, Erik is married and has three daughters and two dogs. He also enjoys eating great food that keeps him a little "fluffy" – just like his dogs!

Integration Partner Manager, Repository Account Manager — Ky Carter

Ky represents Asteris for all of our partners, particularly those with products that integrate with our products and services. He also interfaces with our repository customers, in the U.S. and across the globe. Ky resides in Mineral Wells, Texas with his wife Roea and their two children, Kayleb and Abbiegail. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and anything to do with The Great Outdoors.

Technical Support Manager — Chris Orth

Chris orchestrates the inner-workings of our world-reknown support department, and also assists in software installations and day-to-day service issues. He resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his "significant other," Tawna, and their children: Kaden, Kyler, and Tyler. His primary hobbies are cooking, fishing, and camping. He has been known to be recruited to serve as "The Grillmaster" in the summer months.

Customer Relations/Support — David Corlew

David handles the daily business operations of Asteris and will probably be your first contact when you have a service or technical question. A resident of Stephentown, New York, David enjoys snowmobiling and dedicates his spare time to volunteering for the town Fire and Emergency Medical Services, of which he has been a member for over 25 years and holds the position of Past Chief.

Dev. Team Lead, Senior Software Engineer — Rob Mulcahey, BSCIS

Rob is responsible for writing most of the software developed at Asteris. At this point he has written almost all of the software comprising our flagship Keystone Software Suite. A true "behind-the-scenes" team member, Rob keeps the updates rolling out so that our software runs smoothly with all the latest features. Rob resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife Molly and their two children Sarah and James. In his spare time, you will find Rob skiing, biking, camping, and brewing his own beer. Even Jason concedes that he is the true "Asteris Brew Master!"

Senior Full Stack Engineer — Danny Brown

Danny is responsible for writing the code that drives Asteris'web-based initiatives, namely Asteris Keystone Omni. He lives in Dublin, Ohio with his wife Molly and their daughters Alice and Wrenley. Outside of work, Danny contributes to open source software, speaks at conferences, and volunteers with local school STEM groups.

Heuristic Algorithm Engineer & Data Scientist — Kevin Drum

Kevin is a developer for Asteris Keystone Omni who is passionate about frontend development and all things JavaScript. He and his wife Lindsey reside in Radford, Virginia. When he is not coding, he also enjoys playing and restoring pinball machines, digital photography, and karaoke.

Technical Support Specialist — Fred Williams

A retired Army Ranger, Fred now serves as part of our stellar technical support crew. He and his wife Sabrina decided to stay in Colorado Springs after serving his final station at Fort Carson. His interests are anything technology-related, music (specifically jazz), and being outdoors. He is appreciated by the Asteris team for his unique trivia he shares daily.

Technical Support Specialist — Carl Sandstrom

Carl is an Army veteran whose primary focus was in satellite communications. He has lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado since 2016 and is loving the cooler weather. In his free time, he enjoys playing with his dog, attending concerts, golfing, building computers, and working with anything technology-related.

Technical Support Specialist — Brian Hobbins

For over a decade, Brian traveled around the U.S. with his family, taking in the sights, and looking for the perfect place to call home. Ultimately, they landed in Colordo Springs and are here to stay. During his travels, Brian worked remotely or on-site at several technology companies, IT/Networking providers, and even started a mobile computer repair company. Brian enjoys hiking the Colorado Front Range, rock hounding, spending time with his son, or all of the above at once.
